When I first met James I didn’t know how to take him. He was one of 4 contractors I had come through my new co-op in Tribeca. Everyone else nodded their heads and agreed with what I was showing them then quoted on the job.

James walked in, I showed him what I was going to do and he started asking really probing questions. He asked me what my priorities are, why I was doing what I was doing and then asked if he could make some suggestions.

I was curious so I let him speak. I expected that he was going to up-sell me, but he stared making suggestions to decrease the scope of work and not increase it! He was interested in me getting value from what I was doing and clearly he had a great deal of experience to draw from.

James doesn’t ‘look like a contractor’ when you meet him. He doesn’t act like the typical contractor either. He’s polished and when he meets with you he’s early. His whole team shows up early for meetings! It’s such a refreshing change to the industry.

I’m a developer and I hired James for my own apartment renovation, I’m so glad that I did. You won’t be disappointed if you do.

I will use this company for all of my contracting needs from now on. They are super thorough when it comes to explaining how certain jobs and services work so you know exactly what going’s on from the beginning of the project to the very end. They were punctual, reliable and professional.

I very much enjoyed working with the WVGC team as the GC on an interior design project with longstanding clients. I worked closely with the Project Manager and Foreman on a daily basis. They were incredibly professional, communicative and involved in the project from start to finish; always bringing their highest level of workmanship and attention to the project irrespective of how busy they were with other commitments. I would certainly work with them again.

James and his team are simply the best contractors I have ever encountered. Period. They did a major renovation on our apartment, which was subsequently featured on a Dwell home tour, and in New York Magazine’s “Design Hunting.” Their craftsmanship is top notch. But what really distinguishes them is their integrity. They do what they say they are going to do. On time. On budget. Plus they treat your house like a home, not like a construction site. They are careful to protect everything to the nth degree, and also clean everything up every night. If you want the best, go with West Village.

James and West Village GC team are great to work with. All aspects of the project and construction are clearly communicated and expectations explained. Their timelines are concise and project came in on time.
