Following a recent announcement, West Village GC has revealed that the luxury renovation project on 111 West 57th Street has been completed. The buildout was done for the interior designer Kelly Behun Studio and was featured on the cover of Elle Decor’s March 2024 issue.

CEO James Mansfield leads the premier general contractor, West Village GC, and has established a reputation for reliability and excellence. The latest project showcases the company’s ability to combine luxury design and craftsmanship while respecting the historic building’s integrity.

Mansfield started his general contracting career in 2001 after leaving the banking industry. His first job was a $360 tiling project, and from there, he has built his high-end contracting firm, now taking on prestigious projects like the latest one for Kelly Behun Studio in the historic Steinway Tower, which was once home to Steinway & Sons piano showroom.

Reflecting on his journey, Mansfield shares, “From that first tiling job to completing high-end buildouts like this one for Kelly Behun Studio, I’ve learned so much along the way. There have been bumps, but each challenge taught me valuable lessons. The ability to learn, pivot, be honest about mistakes, and always come up with solutions has been crucial.”

Mansfield highlights his gratitude toward his in-house team, who are reviewed every 90 days and given bonuses based on their performance and alignment with the company’s core values: Communicate Clearly, Be Accountable, Take Initiative, Care, Always be Learning, and Do it Once.
